Invisalign

How Does Invisalign Work?

Throughout this dental treatment, a patient uses a series of aligners to make slight adjustments to the position of teeth. Each person is different and will require a unique plan of action. As aligner trays are placed in the mouth, they make teeth shift into desired position. Approximately every two weeks, the trays will be switched for a gradual change.

Each aligner tray is crafted from a patented thermoplastic design that uses controlled force to reposition teeth. Unlike conventional braces, Invisalign controls the force and the timing of the force. Within each stage, only certain teeth are moved.

Benefits of Invisalign:

Invisalign aligners are practically clear. No one may even notice that you’re wearing these virtually invisible “braces”, making Invisalign a seamless fit with your lifestyle and day-to-day interactions with others.

Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. And you can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would for fresh breath and good oral hygiene.

Unlike braces, there are no metal brackets or wires that could cause irritation to your mouth. Plus since your office visits don’t involve metal or wire adjustments, you’ll likely spend less time in the doctor’s chair.

Straightening your teeth with Invisalign can help reduce or eliminate recession of your gums, grinding and clenching of your teeth, periodontal disease and more.

What is the Treatment Process of Invisalign?

The first appointment you will need to start your journey to straighter teeth is a records appointment. This appointment includes taking intra oral pictures, study models and any needed xrays. This information is then sent Invisalign for them to confirm what type of case you will be. The type of case you will need with Invisalign depends on the severity of your teeth. There are 3 types of cases through Invisalign; Express 5 case, which is approximately 2 months of treatment, Express 10 case, which is approximately 5 months of treatment and a Full Invisalign case which is approximately 1 year of treatment . The next step in your journey to a straighter smile is to come in for the Clin Check appointment. At this appointment Dr. Cheryl will go over what your teeth will look like once treatment has been completed and to confirm what type of case you are. This is also a great time to have her answer any questions you may have. After you accept treatment you will then comeback to have your first set of aligners delivered to you. You will then be on your way to a straighter and more beautiful smile!!
